SACRAMENTO, Calif. –
Following CIF State Regional
Bowl Game play December 7-8 the schedule is now set for the 2012 CIF State
Football Championship Bowl Games presented by Farmers. The games will be
held Friday-Saturday, December 14-15, at The Home Depot Center in Carson and
will be broadcast live by Time Warner Cable. Additionally, for the second
consecutive year, AstroTurf, the inventor of synthetic turf, teamed up with
The Home Depot Center and the NFLPA to install a signature state-of-the-art
field for the 2012 Championships.
OPEN
DIVISION: Corona Centennial vs. Concord De La Salle
Saturday, December 15, at 8:00 p.m.
Centennial (14-1) defeated Narbonne 41-34 in the SoCal Open Division and
will be making their fourth State Championship Bowl Game appearance. The
Huskies won the Southern Section’s Inland Division with a 30-28 win over
Vista Murrieta. Additionally, Centennial was the last team to defeat De La
Salle in the State Championship Bowl Games (21-16 in the Division I game in
2008).
De La
Salle (14-0) won the NorCal Open Division 49-15 over Folsom and is making
their seventh appearance in as many years in the State Championship Bowl
games; the Spartans will be playing for their fourth consecutive Open
Division crown. Additionally, this year they won their 21st
consecutive North Coast Section Division I Championship.
DIVISION I: Long Beach Poly vs. Granite Bay
Friday, December 14, at 8:00 p.m.
Long
Beach Poly (12-3) won the SoCal Division I title, 28-7, over Clovis North.
The Jackrabbits defeated Mater Dei, 35-17, to claim the Southern Section
Pac-Five title and are making their second (Modern Era) State Championship
Bowl Game appearance.
Granite
Bay (12-3) is making their first State Bowl Championship appearance fresh
off two consecutive Sac-Joaquin Section Division I titles. The Grizzlies
won the NorCal Division I crown, 45-17, over St. Ignatius.
DIVISION II: Gardena Serra vs. Oakdale
Saturday, December 15, at 4:00 p.m.
Serra
(13-2) is making its second State Championship Bowl Game appearance after a
27-10 victory over Edison in the SoCal Division II game. Additionally, the
Cavaliers have now won three Southern Section titles in the last four
seasons and appeared in four section title games in five years.
Oakdale
(14-1) defeated Clayton Valley Charter, 27-24, to claim the NorCal Division
II title; this marks their first appearance at the State Championship Bowl
Games. The Mustangs captured the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III
Championship with a 22-9 win over Vista del Lago.
DIVISION III: San Diego Madison vs. Kentfield Marin Catholic
Saturday, December 15, at 12:00 p.m.
Madison
(13-1) is making their second State Championship Bowl Game appearance after
a 31-17 victory over Monrovia in the SoCal Division III Championship. The
Warhawks claimed the San Diego Section Division IV title after a 35-21 win
over St. Augustine.
Marin
Catholic (14-1) captured the NorCal Division II title after a 23-7 win over
Sutter and will be making their second State Championship Bowl Game
appearance. The Wildcats defeated El Cerrito 31-28 to claim the North Coast
Section Division III crown.
DIVISION IV: Modesto Central Catholic vs. Solana Beach Santa Fe Christian
Friday, December 14, at 4:00 p.m.
Santa
Fe Christian (11-3) will be making their first State Championship Bowl Game
title run after a 30-28 win over Rio Hondo Prep. The Eagles claimed the San
Diego Section Division V crown with a 31-15 victory over Francis Parker.
Central
Catholic (13-2) is making its second State Championship Bowl Game appearance
after defeating McClymonds 42-12 in the NorCal Division IV Championship. The
Raiders claimed the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV title following a 52-10
victory over Escalon.
