Brent Etiz

Clovis (Calif.) Buchanan LB Brent Etiz leads the defense of the No. 3 team in the Central Section that beat No. 1 Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West on Friday night. Etiz is a three-year varsity starter that is getting looks from the WAC, Pac-10, and has offers from multiple FCS schools. One Pac-10 school was in attendance at his game Friday night, and Etiz says another is close to offering…

Brent Etiz (5-11.5, 210) is having another solid season. The returning all-league standout has led Buchanan to a 6-1 start, their best since 2000. The only loss came against then nationally ranked Fresno (Calif.) Edison.

Etiz picked up his first offer from UC Davis recently and has a few others from Ivy League schools. Washington State was at his game Friday night against Clovis West, which Buchanan won 19-13. Moreover, Etiz says Stanford is getting closer to offering him.

Fresno State and Arizona also have called him since September 1. He favors Stanford because he says they have the best combination of athletics and academics.

Speaking of academics, he carries a 4.5 GPA and scored an 1820 on his SAT. For more on Etiz's recruitment watch his video interview…
